Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates Joint Commanders Conference in Kolkata

On Sunday evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Kolkata via separate flights to attend the Joint Commanders Conference. This significant event is set to commence on Monday. According to military officials, PM Modi will inaugurate the three-day conference at the Eastern Command headquarters located in Vijay Durga, previously known as Fort William. He is expected to participate in the conference for approximately four hours before departing for Purnia in Bihar.

Inauguration of the Joint Commanders Conference

The Joint Commanders Conference (CCC) will be officially opened by Prime Minister Modi at the Eastern Command headquarters on Monday. A defence official noted that this conference serves as the premier brainstorming platform for the armed forces, bringing together the nation's top civilian and military leaders to exchange ideas on both conceptual and strategic levels. This year's conference, themed 'Year of Reforms - Transformations for the Future,' will focus on reforms, changes, and operational readiness, particularly in the context of 'Operation Sindoor.'

Roadmap for Major Changes in the Armed Forces

The official stated that the conference aims to showcase the armed forces' commitment to institutional reforms, deep integration, and technological modernization, while also maintaining a high level of multi-domain operational readiness. PM Modi arrived in Kolkata from Assam on Sunday evening and will head to Purnia in the afternoon. The 'Operation Sindoor,' aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure across the Line of Control and within Pakistan, has demonstrated a balanced response from all three armed services, characterized by precision, professionalism, and purpose.

Security Discussions with Top Commanders

According to a statement from the Defence Ministry, the three-day conference aims to further strengthen the armed forces, which play a nimble and decisive role in an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, and top commanders from the Army, Air Force, and Navy are participating in this conference. The last Joint Commanders Conference took place in Bhopal in 2023.
